Arts & Culture Advisory Board
Seven-person board created to encourage, promulgate, consider, weigh, recommend, and lead the community in the establishment and planning of arts development within the community. Board should be comprised of volunteers who have a passion for arts, culture, themes and other quality of life matters. The Board will explore such initiatives as the development of an arts master plan (including a public arts plan and a mechanism to accept public art gifts, bequests, etc.), encouragement of creativity that would be a positive reflection of Bethany and work with other entities in the community such as the Bethany Improvement Foundation.
Board members will serve with staggered 3-year terms and will be selected at-large from the community by the City Council.
Bethany Economic Development Authority
Five-member board tasked with improving economic development and sustainability in Bethany. Scope of possible activities may include any of the following: retail recruitment; development incentivization; buying, owning, operating and selling real estate; site clearance; installation of streets, utilities, parks, public parking, civic and convention centers, sidewalks over and underpasses and other needed public improvements; and repairing and/or rehabilitating buildings and other structures.
Board of Adjustment
Permanent five-member board tasked with hearing and deciding appeals if it is alleged there is error in any order, requirement, decision, or determination made by an administrative official in the enforcement of any zoning regulation. Board shall also hear and decide special exceptions and variances relating to city ordinance requirements and oil and/or gas applications or appeals.
Cemetery Improvement Task Force
Interim task force comprised of up to 12 citizens to aide in revitalization of the City of Bethany’s cemetery grounds. Improvement recommendations should address the entrance, fencing, overall aesthetic and any other items deemed necessary. This task force will be provisional and will cease upon completion of the improvements.
Parks, Recreation & Trees Advisory Board
Seven-person board created to facilitate and recommend improvements to City of Bethany public spaces. The board of citizens should be comprised of volunteers and enthusiasts who have a passion for arbor, open spaces, and quality of life matters. The Board will explore such initiatives as quality of life improvements, the development of a park plan for the City's park system, the creation of a recreational plan for the whole community and recommendations for the arbor canopy and planting of trees within the City. Board members will serve with staggered 3-year terms and will be selected at-large from the community by the City Council.
Planning & Zoning Commission
Permanent nine-member commission tasked with planning systematic development and betterment of the city as a place of residence or for business. Commission may consider and investigate any subject matter tending to the development of the city and make recommendations to the Council regarding surveys, maps and plans.
Vision 2030 Branding & Logo Task Force
Interim task force comprised of up to 15 innovative citizens and/or business owners in the community to aide in creating an overarching “brand” for the City of Bethany. The task force will collaborate on the creation of new, readily recognizable logo(s) and branding for the city, which will then be incorporated into community art, city signs, etc. This task force will be provisional and will cease once branding and logo(s) are created and implemented.
